GRAND RAPIDS, MI — The Kent County Board of Commissioners approved a request Thursday to use the county’s 8% hotel tax to make annual payments on a $100 million bond for construction of an 8,500-seat soccer stadium in downtown Grand Rapids.
The city of Grand Rapids is expected to consider a request from Grand Action 2.0, the private economic development group leading the development of the stadium, to borrow the $100 million next week.
