GRAND RAPIDS, MI — The planned 8,500-seat downtown stadium that will serve as the home of a yet-to-be-announced professional soccer team officially has a name: Amway Stadium.
The Ada-based direct sales giant is pledging a $33 million gift for the stadium. The name of the stadium was announced Monday morning at New Holland Brewing Co’s Grand Rapids brew pub on Bridge Street NW.
The $175 million venue, part of a wave of investment planned for downtown that also includes Acrisure Amphitheater and high-rise luxury housing, is expected to be built on a 7-acre site adjacent to U.S. 131 and the David D. Hunting YMCA on Lake Michigan Drive NW.
